For sale is this fantastic lovingly hand crafted cedar strip canoe. The finish of this canoe is to a very high standard. It is made from Western red cedar, Ash gunwales, oak and mahogany laminated decks, and handmade seats and yoke from mahogany. She has graceful lines, a great load carrying capacity and a fine stableness to her, as you would expect form a Prospector. It has some lovely featchers such as mahogany capped screws on the gunwhals, ergonomic grips under deck, and not only a great looking hand make yoke but carries on the back really well. It has never been paddled and has not a scratch on her.

Viewing anytime by appointment, the canoe is located in Greystoke, Cumbria

Materials

Western red cedar.Front and rear stems laminated oak for strength. Outer gunwhales in ash with mahogany pellets.Inner gunwhales with 3/8” x4” scupper slots for fast drainage.Top decks oak with mahogany canter and laminated oak bookends.Brass eyelets for attaching painter.Two mahogany seats with black webbing.

Finish

Coated with 6oz twill weave fibreglass cloth inside and out.Extra layer on bottom of the canoe for added strength.Outer coated with three coats West Systems epoxy resin.Inner coated with two coast West Systems epoxy resin.Finished with 3 coats International Perfection Plus Varnish.Clear coating with UV protection to prevent discoloration of timber.

Handling

Can be paddled on lakes, rivers and open sea.Good front to back rocker.Flatten shallow arched hull.Excellent on flat water.Will handle white water.Ideal for two but will will make for fine solo boat.Will carry generous load for expeditions or wilderness trips.

She has graceful lines, a great load carrying capacity and a fine stableness to her, as you would expect form a Prospector. It has some lovely featchers such as mahogany capped screws on the gunwhalels, ergonomic grips under deck for your fingers to grip into, and not only a great looking yoke but caries on the back well. This canoe has been had some light use and as such as some scraches.
