Sweden Expedition ( Jamtland)

May 2010 and we are off to Sweden, to paddle in the Harken river system. The trip starts in a remote location near the Norwegian border up in the mountains and follows a pine clad river system that twists and turns passing thorough rapids, lakes and even a portage or two. Although there are some signs of habitation along the way with Swedish log cabins dotting the route, there is a Canadian style wilderness feel to this trip. We will be completely self sufficient, wild camping under tarps and cooking on fires at night. There is the possibility to see Moose, Reindeer, Elk, Beaver and Osprey. Lynx and brown bears also reside in the area. You can try your hand at fishing in-between the rapids and on the lakes. This will be a 6 day trip with all food, boats, paddles, and safety kit provided; you just need yourself and personal kit for camping.
