What to wear?

• Firstly, leave all your cotton gear at home. Bring along either wool-based clothing or synthetics.
• Base-layer - long thermal underwear and socks (wool or synthetic).
• Mid-layer - fleece or wool tops and fleece or lined polyester-rich walking style trousers.
• A full set of waterproofs may come in useful during inclement weather.. we do enounter this occasionally!
• Hat and gloves for colder months.
• For footwear, we recommend wellington boots with removable innersoles.
• For moving water courses, old trainers with wool or dry-socks are advised (wellie boots can fill with water ).
• An old pair of trainers for the evenings and a spare change of clothes stored in a plastic bag to keep them dry.

What to bring?

• Sleeping bag, preferably 3 season (down or synthetic)
• Self-inflating or closed-cell foam sleeping mat
• Pocket knife
• Tent, or basha/bivvy-bag combi
• Torch and spare batteries
• Small first aid kit, including plasters, blister kit, tweezers, foot powder and any personal medication
• Sun block and lip balm
• Pocket knife
• Insect repellent and/or midge head-net
• Biodegradeable soap and small towel
• Knife and spoon
• Mug and bowl
• Water bottle
• Did we mention a pocket knife?..

For weeklong courses you will also require:

• 4 metre length of para-style cord
• Dry Sack (see FAQ's)
• Pocket knife!

Optional extras:

• Camera and film
• Head torch

Thermarest chair
• Binoculars
