Dates..

2012 dates will be avalible for booking by the new year.

The course
Over 4 days, you will build our ‘Lakelander’ canoe. This is our very own design and has evolved through extensive builds and useage of a great number of canoes over the past 15 years.
The 'Lakelander' is 16' long by 35''. She has graceful lines, whilst retaining a good load carrying capacity and a confident ‘sea-worthiness’.
Your canoe can be lifted and carried by one person and will be easily transported on the roof of a car. For longevity, you will be using canoe - grade plywood, with ash gunwales, thwarts and seats. All seams will be reinforced with epoxy resin and fibre glass tape. The canoe allows plenty of space for kit stowage, dogs, kids, picnic hampers etc..

Prior canoe building and woodworking experience...
The beauty of building these canoes, is that they can be built by complete novices. The stages of construction are very straightforward and progressive. Basically, that means you won’t get bored with elaborate phases of laborious monotony. Don’t forget... we've had years of practise to eradicate those time consuming errors!

Staff
Our highly experienced team have built countless canoes all over the world... take a look at some of our videos if you need clarification. We will be on hand to help with the stages of your build.
Many hands make light work, and as such, you are welcome to bring along friends or family to assist, just let us know beforehand.

3 Day option
If you have limited time, just let us know. We can cut your 'build time' down to 3 days.

Completion
Yes, you can take your finished canoe home upon completeion. Don't forget your roof bars, and either some good quality rope, or roof straps. Look to 'Thule'
( www.thule.co.uk) for good quality straps.

Grub

This is a self-catering course, so bring some daytime fodder. We have tea and coffee a plenty, so no need to bring flasks etc..

Location
This
workshop is held in the North Lakes, near to Keswick. This area has plenty of cheap camp sites, B&B's and hotels.
